Logest

Logest is oral contraceptive containing two active ingredients gestoden 75mcg and ethynilestradiol 20mcg. Birth control effect of Logest is associated with the several mechanisms such as suppressesion of gonadotropic hormones secretion and the process of ovulation. Logest increases the viscosity of cervical mucous making difficult for the sperm cells to penetrate into uterus.

Along with contraceptive effect, Logest regulates and nomalizes menstrual cycle, making periods less intensive and painful.

Like other oral contraceptive, Logest should be started in the first day of mentrual cycle, using dragee corresponding to the day of week. Each pill of Logest should be taken at the same time each day during 21 days. Then follows 7-days interruption during which menstrual-like bleedings can occur. The next pack of Logest should be started on the 8th day.

Diane-35

Diane-35 is a popular combined oral contraceptive that contains 2 active ingredients: 2mg of cyproterone and 35mcg of ethynilestradiol. Contraceptive effects is similar to other oral birth control pills such as ovulation suppression, increasing the viscosity of uterine mucous, endomethrium modification. Along with birth control (contraceptive) effect the medication exerts potent anti-androgenic effects associated with the action of cyproterone acetate. Diane-35 is used to treat androgen-dependent and hyperandrogenic diseases in women: acne vulgaris, seborrhea, alopecia, hirsutism.

Cyproterone prevents hair loss accompanied by seborrhea. It blocks androgenic receptors in target-organs, decreasing manifestation of virilization in women. Therapeutic effect of Diane-35 is manifested in elimination of acne, reducing the excessive sebacious secretion on the scalp and face skin. Elimination of hirsutism symptoms is observed in a few months after beginning of Diane-35 application.

Yasmin

Yasmin is one of the most prescribed oral birth control medications. Yasmin is manufactured by well-known pharmaceutical company Bayer-Schering (Germany) and contains two active hormones: drosperinone 3mg and ethynilestradiol 30mcg. Contraceptive effect is also achieved by ovulation suppression and endomethrium and uterine mucous modifications. Drosperinone containing in Yasmin possesses antimineralocorticoid activity. This helps to prevent excessive weight gain and water retention - the symptoms common for other oral birth control pills.

Drosperinone possesses anti-androgenic activity, leading to eliminatation of acne and decreasing of oil glands secretion.

Like other combined oral contraceptives Yasmin normalizes menstrual cycle, reduces the risk of anemia, painful sensation related to menstrual hemorrhages.

Jeanine

Jeanine consists of two female sex hormones: ethynilestradiol 30mcg and dienogest 2mg. Contraceptive effect is absolutely identical to above mentioned hormonal contraceptives. Along with contraceptive action, the medication also possesses anti-androgenic effects caused by dienogest - gestagen, derivative of nortestosterone with anti-androgenic activity. Jeanine and other oral contraceptives are contraindicated in patients with arterial or venous thrombosis, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, liver and kidney diseases. The use of oral contraceptives during pregnancy is beyond the purpose and is of a high risk for pregnant mother.
